I downloaded Office 2007 Beta 2, mostly for OneNote 2007, but cannot figure out how to get 2-way sync for OneNote Mobile on my pocketpc to work. I have onenote mobile installed on my PPC already (Dell Axim x51v, WM5) but cannot get the sync settings to work properly. If I make notes ON onenote mobile, those will copy over, but I cannot figure out how to get it to work the other way around.
i know this feature exists and is on this build, as I even e-mailed Chris Pratley to make sure
Has anyone figured this out? Can you let me know the process, as I would really like to have my school notes that i take in OneNote copied over to my handheld. Thanks.
It's working fine for me. Here are a couple of things to check:
1. Do you have OneNote selected as a synch option when you choose Tools->Options in ActiveSync?
2. It wasn't really obvious to me at first where it was storing the synched notes. It creates a new notebook called "OneNote Mobile Notes" and only does a two-way synch with notes in this notebook (as far as I can tell).
Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you're still having problems and I'll see if I can find anything else.

I have tried to set this up using my axim x51v and Onenote beta 2, and i have installed the cab file from the 1033 folder location, and setup the copy information in Onenote for me handheld, but I am not seeing the Onenote option in Activesync.
Is there anything special that needs to be done so that I can see this in Activesync?

There's also an easier way to install it than copying over the CAB file. Go to Tools->Options and choose the Other category. Scroll down to the "OneNote Mobile for Windows Mobile powered devices" section and click the "Install OneNote Mobile" button. They probably could have made this a little more obvious!

Well the only thing I can get to sync is one way from my Pc to my device. And I am running the cab file from One Note beta 2 version 12.0.4017.1004. It shows as beta two which from what I am reading is supposed to have the two way syncing.
I guess I will have to play around some more.

Ok now I got it, uninstalled from device, reinstalled via One note for PC, and then performed a full resync, and now everything is showing up correctly. This ROCKS!. I went to a Microsoft Vista/Office seminar yesterday, and they are comeing out with some great products in the future.

I agree, this is a great little app. :approve: The only downside I've found is that it only synchs the "OneNote Mobile Notes" notebook and not all of your other notebooks, unless I'm missing something.
If you install the Windows Desktop Search beta that OneNote 2007 nags you about it will also search for words in images and audio files, but I haven't tried this yet.

it finally started working on its own with a little help from me
i guess it doesn't like multiple sections in the mobile notebook, so when i got rid of those things worked again.
the only weird thing is sometimes it breaks the notes up into these segments, and i don't really understand why...
i have a tablet pc and i haven't tried to sync notes that i used ink on yet, so i'm really curious if those will show up or not
After installing Onenote, you can go into the tools section, and then Options, scroll to the bottom and select Other on the left side. On the right side, you will see a button to install the mobile client.
