I have been waiting before upgrading to WM5 on my X50V. Should I give up or do any of you have it working well? As time progresses, I do not expect Dell to offer any ROM updates as they will focus on the X51.
Search this forum for how to get your Axim x50v replaced with a x51v. It is very much worth it. Of course, your warranty must still be active. Not only is the x51v WM5 friendly it also has upgraded memory.

seems like that is dell's accepted method of dealing with wm5 on the x50 series lately. their answers for wm5 upgrade on the x50 ranged from "soon" to "i wish that the upgrade had never been released" when i went to online tech support after a near brick expereince.
There are a a couple of posts on here to get your X50v working just fine which I have done and they work perfectly. And I did read somewhere were someone has got the rom upgrades for the X51v working on the X50v by using the Win5 upgrade cd, they switched the rom file at the appropriate moment and it worked... thinkit was in the A012 thread... around page 10-12 I think.
btw I'v upgrade WM5 for 2 times,
there will be no '3 times" unless Dell provide new WM5 patch for X50v to improve slugface performance with troublesome bugs,

Yep, at least if your ax is in warranty and came with free upgrade to wm5. There answer to providing wm5 compatibility is to send you a refurb x51v and transfer your existing warranty.
Yup I remember reading in a post that someone found a way to upgrade their axim x50v using X51v rom images and were going to try A12 on their X50v using the same method. Just a matter of finding it for you... never tried it myself though.
however I recommend trying these hacks on a X50v with win5 because Ive had mine running with them for a few months with zero problems and haven`t had to even soft reset, it`s got my Ax running at Win2003 speeds.
