A dell pda has to be either a x50 or an x50v in order to upgrade to wm5. The x51 and x51v already come with wm5.

If your looking for system requirements for the os, kind of like installing windows xp, there is none. Mobile oses dont work that way. The manufacturer of the pda decides whether or not it can be upgraded. The X5 can be upgraded to wm2003, but not wm2003se or wm5.

Then the vendor has to have made an upgrade available.

For those of us that aren't psychic, which PDA is it?

I believe WM2003SE was the last version on that device.

Yes it was, But it has large enough RAM and ROM to put WM 5 on it.

Is WM 5 Just a vender thing? Mircosoft does not make a stand alone version of it?

Nope, Microsoft makes the "core" of WM5 and then the vendors will customize it for their device specifics.
