What are these *.vol files that are growing ?

I recently went to WM2005 - so far no problems worse than being on PPC2003.

I've noticed a bunch of files like
mxip_initdb.vol
pim.vol
cemail.vol

...these seem to be growing in the root directyand are now at 3.5Mb

Does anyone know what they are and if they are important?

Don't know about mxip_initdb.vol, but the PIM.vol is you contacts / appointments / tasks database, and the cemail.vol is your inbox. The'll grow over time unless you periodically purge old appointments / tasks / e-mail messages.

Thanks! - you just convinced me to purge my calendar and restrict the number of weeks that are synch'd
