Closing programs

I'm still pretty new to this PDA thing. My X51V is my first. I have upgraded to A12 and have not encountered any problems to date.

My question is that when I exit a program by touching the "X" top RH corner, the program closes but when I look in home/memory/running programs, it is still listed as running.

I have quickly got into the habit of checking every now and then to see what I have running and closing them off from this screen.....is this normal practise? Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to Aximsite, This is by design so if you select files or menu and then exit it will close completely but the X won' so some program like music players will continue to play music even if you X out. Third party program including the included program named Switcher Bar ( Start -> Settings -> System tab) allows you to close program with he X instead of minimizing them. Another program doing this is Wisbar Advance 2.
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

Welcome to aximsite.com. Both vbar 2.2 and Magic Button 2.0 are freeware and should do the trick.
Palm IIIxe ==> Handspring Visor Platinum ==> Dell Axim x51v

vbar and magic button are two apps that do the job. For free.
There are lots of other free task managers out there. Just google it.

You might also want to look into spb pocket plus. It will close on X and you have the option to minimize also. It also has a whole galaxy of other pleasant and useful features.
