there has to be an a14 cuz the glitch problems haven't been fixed.
which problem are you refering to as the glitch problem? and most likely the rom number will increment a bit past 14 before they do another release but you never know....
Usually they are working on a few different things and each one of those may have a number. They don't really skip numbers but we only see the one they want to finally release. There were some x51v's coming to the field with A11 in them but it never got released to us for an update.
I am sure there will be another x51v ROM update (not sure about the number though). AKU3 is due for release to OEMs later this year. Sadly, it took Dell well over six months to get AKU2 to us (i.e. A12 ROM) so my guess is they will delay AKU3 for at least six months after Microsoft send it to the OEMs.

the glitch problem that is mentioned in this thread
Why do they skip numbers? The longer they wait for an update, the bugger the number?
It could be for a few reasons.
1) The release failed internal testing and therefore not suitable for public distribution
2) A particular release number may never be intended for the public but only internal groups. A feature might get added or a nasty bug might get fixed. They want they software test groups to take a look at it before other features/bugs get added.
3) A release could just be for manufacturing reasons. Let's say Dell finds a battery maker that's cheaper but they need to read the power status differently. They add the code to all future releases but need to get one to their factory right away.

I thought Dell halted PDA development? Or was that only with regard to new hardware?
AKU3 is not a piece of hardware, AKU is the name Microsoft give their Windows Mobile service packs. The A12 ROM contained AKU2 (which brought DirectPush messaging and a few OS optimisations) and I imagine Dell's next ROM won't be realeased until AKU3 is ready.
Dell probably won't contract HTC to make another PDA any time soon, unless Dell wants to enter the mobile phone market.
I've checked, and HTC have no up and coming devices similar or better than the x51v. Virtually all HTC's up and coming devices are smartphones.

Yes, I understand that. But if dell has halted all PDA development, including software, then who is going to port AKU3 to the axim?
