Internet Explorer crashing on WM5 A12

Ever since I upgraded to ROM A12 I have found that the Internet Explorer mobile shuts down unexpectedly while I'm using it. IT's totally random and sporatic. It's not tied to any website. Once I soft-reset, it seems to go back to normal.

I did not have this problem with the previous A06 ROM.

Anyone else with this problem? Suggestions of fix?

Strange, I have not noticed this kind of problem. Do some searching on this site and you will certainly find some answers. Good luck!!

I haven't experienced a problem with my x51v running IE wm5 A12. I also use multiIE with the IE.

Do you regularly clean your cache and tidy up temp files. I use netfront and occaisionally it flips to the today screen. a memmaid sweep usually does the trick even without a soft reset.

Clean your cache. I had this problem after I logged onto a particular website that was listed on here and from on PIE would not even start, just try and then crash. I used Memaid to clean out all the caches and everything went back to normal. Not saying this will fix it but it did for me.

Mine are stored on the SD card and I've not had one single problem with PIE on A12 other than the one I described. On my machine it runs just perfect so I dunnow what to tell you. Its possible I guess that the program itself has become corrupt in which case I'm guessing it would take a hard reset to get it going again but if you have either SPB Backup 1.5 or Sunnysoft Backup, that whole operation takes about 15 minutes. I prefer Sunnysoft backup because you can do selective restores out iof it.

A twist on this problem - I had an X50V that would crash IE whenever a complex site came up (like Realclearpolitics.com). It could handle simple sites.

The X50V had a hardware problem, so I did a swap with Dell and got a different X50V. The same thing is happening.... I can surf on some sites, but RCP crashes as soon as it begins to come up. Every time.

2003 A05

Anybody have ideas? My temp files are empty - not sure where cache is located at

Is this another liberal plot to control media? :*)

Same problem here, content, cookies, and history saved on sd card and maxed the limit using RegTweak and IE still closes unexpectedly. Soft-reset works but hafta wait 2 acquire wifi signal which drains the battery.

Happens to me all the time. Even when I tried to come to this site just now. I cleaned my cache and every thing else with quick cleaner and then sk tools. Cache is on the sd card. A soft reset at least allowed it to open. But not for long. Signal is great so that is not the problem. Plus I was plugged to the AC at the time.

Hard reset seems a bit harsh at this point since I just got this one. My third replacement in 2 years. Don't get me wrong. I love my axim when it works. but I have had it guys
I was on the phone trying to make an appointment, pulled out the PPC and it froze when I turned it on. It freezes when I exit a game, It freezes when I try to turn it off. It freezes if there is an R in the month or if I don't hold my tongue just right. I use no today Plug ins. Stopped them long ago. No themes that move or anything As a matter of fact all I have now is a background picture. Blue tooth and beam are turned off So is error reporting. Only batti and tray launch are in the start up. I don't post much but I read here religiously and do what you all say. I am a geek and a half and not afraid to get my hands dirty but this one has me throwing my hands up

This has gone on way too long and it has happened on and off with all three devices. And you know what the guys at the Dell chat support say. They have 2 buttons. They push one to auto-type do a soft reset yada yada yada and then one to tell you all the garbage about a hard reset I asked them once no kidding, it's an auto mated button.

Why do we put up with this. I have hard reset my blasted PPC so often that I can re-install everything in less than 1/2 hour. I keep my start menu folder backed up on my SD card and my programs on it and my CF cards. So except for a few other programs that I have to install to the main menu or use very frequently. All I have to do is copy my backed up start menu folder over to windows.

And it's the programs that are on the main memory like IE that that mess up the most.

I am going back to my tungsten for the things I need reliability for, but my kids and I love this thing for games etc. I am at your mercy. help us out guys.

Hey Bob just read your post closer. Is there really such a thing as real clear politics. Sounds like an oxymoron to me. Like military intelligence and jumbo shrimp JK

Hey,

Using a x51v A12 Rom and pretty much every Pocket Internet Explorer option left on default, everytime I click on the Back button, IE closes without any error - have to restart it. It works alright otherwise.

I've cleaned from the Option menu Cookies, History and Cache also soft-reset x51v.

Appreciate in advance your help,
Wenn
