DO i need a true VGA hack to run programs in true VGA mode?

I tried to look this up myself to no avail.
I have a Dell Axim 51v A12 ROM, DO I need to install a true VGA hack to run programs that have enable true VGA mode on them? If so which one is the best and most current one for WM5?

I've found, contrary to many other people, that none of them work for windows mobile 5, and when one of them did work for me once it was EXTREMELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buggy. There is some type of tweakish workaround thing that lets programs like acrobat reader for ppc that normally run only in qvga mode to get rid of the whole double pixel thing and run in VGA aware mode which looks the same except more clear. If I was you I would just run standard vga, and use this workaround with the mui files. However if you are determined there are plenty of articals on true vga in the knowledgbase.

The work around with MUI files is part of Tweaks2k2. It works in some programs like the above mentioned Adobe Acrobat Reader, MS Streets and Maps, etc. But no in all programs.

you do not need the hack to run apps in true vga mode, although if you want a true vga today screen you so need a hack.

Ive been able to run OzVGA and the newer Markus VGA hacks with success and they didnt appear buggy at all on my X51v. The worked on my ROM A06 and also after I upgraded to ROM A12.

A free utility that creates the MUI files for 'forced' VGA applications under SE VGA mode is called ProgResoSwap.

I use it to force the following to VGA for me: Pocket TV Listings, Acrobat, Pocket Streets, MS Reader.

For Pocket IE, I boot into true VGA using ozVGA.

And I run other software, if possible, that support VGA resolution natively: e.g. Pocket Informant, Bejewelled 2
