I have problem installing the upgrade. The Axim booted after hard reset, but the ROM was still at A06. I talked to tech support at Dell, he said a lot of people have the same problem installing it and he said Dell is fixing it and I should wait for the next release. I read this forum and many people have no problem installing the upgrade, can someone give me the exact steps to do it. I have downloaded AS 4.2 and turned off my ZA wirewall as someone suggested in the forum, but it still did not work. Thanks.

Here is a link to a posting by benace who wrote about doing the upgrade to A12. It is very detail. You do not necessary need to do all the steps such as establishing a password. You can always do that later.

I finally installed A12 ROM today on my X51V (from A06 HW A01, AS4.1) using this procedure from dell: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=1A9C27DB28CEDC0BE0401E0A55172D13&c= ca&l=en&s=gen.

Before double-clicking the a12 executable, I closed all running programs on my pc, disabled antivirus and internet security, and did one final sync via activesync just to make sure my axim is still connected to my pc. Followed the procedure and msgs on my screen step-by-step and kept my pda on the cradle throughout the upgrade.

The upgrade was successful. I have not yet installed any additional programs. Want to make sure it is stable. So far, everything is good (no issues yet, knock on wood).

There are other good information posted in this forum that I found helpful. Thanks to everyone who have shared their upgrade experience.
