Aximsitex50icon Microsoft .NET Compact Framework

I just paid for and downloaded what seems like it should be a great news aggregator program called A6.Times. When I try to activate it, I get an error message that says: "This application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device."
My X51v must have version 1.0 on it (I don't know how to find out for sure), because I see on the Microsoft download site that there's a version 2.0. Instructions are skimpy. Do you think I can just sync up and download 2.0 and it will overwrite 1.0 and everything will be hunky dory? Or do you think there's more involved and I would be setting myself up for disaster?

Actually, 1.0 and 2.0 coexist quite nicely. Old apps will use 1.0, newer ones 2.0.

The framework is fairly large.. those with Pocket PCs that have Built-in-Storage should consider stashing it there. (Note: I believe the X51v does not have separate BIS...)

See here for a much smaller download, just the cab files. run them from the built-in file explorer.

huh? windows media file? Ohhh, I got ya. Try right-clicking and select Save Target As... or Save Link As...

I don't think you need .net CF 1 if you have .net CF 2. I have 2 only installed, and everything I have that requires .net CF 1 runs.

Thanks to all who answered my question. I was able to download .NET 2.0 from Microsoft, put onto my SD card, and now A6Times works wonderfully. Sorry for being a scaredy cat. I'm always fearful of screwing up my OS or some critical file.

That's what I did. Put the .Net 2 on storage card. A6 is a great app about to get a lot better. They put out a beta of a new version that's coming.
I wrote to them asking about a today screen plug in, and that and other things will be implemented by December.
