How to do full backup of x51v

When I try copying all files of my sync'd x51v Axim to my desktop, I get some file locked errors.

What's the best way to do a full backup of everything - PIM, folders, shortcuts and all, with their structure intact?

I got hold of SPB backup but at first glance it only seems to allow backups of components which you select rather than the whole system. And it puts it all in an exe file. Does SPB backup also backup your SD card?

spb Backup - Select the option Full backup. Yes, SPB backup can backup to your SD card.

....and when you run the backup*.exe file, it will allow you to restore all of the components, or you can select which ones to restore.

I use the data backup util that came installed on x51v. It's good enough for me: full backups and restores. I always take 2 backups: all data, then pim only.

I recently did a restore after a HR:
First, from the all data backup. Restore completed but had issues with claunch and turning on wifi.

Did another HR, made sure wifi is ok. Then, I restored using pim backup, then restored using all data backup. Both restores completed successfully. There was still an issue with claunch after the restore. So, I just removed and re-installed it. I don't remember if I set the correct date/time before or after the restore.

It probably took me just under 30 minutes to do the restores and verification.

If you need to do incremental or selective backups, you might have to look at other backup software. I also read of a tool that will allow you to start the restore by simply clicking the backup file.

BTW, all programs are installed on my x51v. I backup contents of my SD and CF cards to my pc using a card reader or activesync.

Hope this helps.

Spb Backup gives you the option of just backing up the data in your internal memory, or even backing up your SD or CF or even both cards too. However, since you are backing up to an external card already, it doesn't quite make sense to backup the contents of the card to itself!
