Dell refunding WM5 upgrade CDs

Just thought I'd mention this as I haven't seen it reported before.

I phoned up Dell support with a hardware problem on an X50v that was upgraded to WM5 and, as soon as I mentioned WM5, they offered a replacement (not something that's usually easy to convince Dell of) and a refund of the price of the WM5 CD.

If people are having problems with WM5, they might want to see if they can get the refund too!

Funny that you mention this...I called them about several weeks ago. Told them that wm 5.0 was just not working on the x50v. Now of course I purchased my updgrade CD when they were FIRST taking orders. So the representative told me that I was no longer in their "8 month" grace period. The representative asked me why I waited so long and I told her that I was trying to hold out on any possible update since the product was a piece of crap (did not actually say crap). So to sum it up....they told me I was screwed after an extensive "chat" session that went on for 30-45 min and about 15-20 min of total hold time which resulted in absolutely nothing. GO DELL :approve:

Well I guess i'm running out of devices to buy now...I went through this with Toshiba and now Dell....now I migrated to a pocketpc phone...still have my x50v (almost said dell but i refuse to give them any credit right now) though....good device but bad support.

po8crg you must have just purchased it like much later after it was released. Did they stop the sales of the upgrade? (I would imagine so)

I read your other post and did you try the online chat? If you read the postings from the link I put in your recent posting you would see some had to try and try and try before becoming successful. I wouldn't give up. I would try again.
