Next Windows Mobile Screenshots

As is well known by now, MS intends to release its next Windows Mobile OS upgrade, Crossbow, in Q4 2006 with products based on the new software released in the first half of 2007 followed by a release of, Photon (based on CE 6.0), in late 2007 with products utilizing Photon released in 2008. MSMobileNews has an article which features a couple of screen shots on the new Crossbow mobile operating system. It seems that Crossbow will have a Vista-like appearance and have tighter integration with Office 2007.

Love the new look. Can't wait to see it on the axims! Well if the new OS will work stable with the axims.

Horribly doubtful- os upgrades really don't happen on the axim series (yeah, 50s got wm5, but the 51 was almost back-to-back with the 50s at the time of the wm5 release, and problems ensued). I'm just holding on to my 51v and smart phone 2k3 until I can dump both and get a phone/pda combo with the latest os (wm5v2 or wm6). Would have done it earlier but I'm not a fan of holding a PDA to my head, and the devices couldn't match my desire for portability with an excellent display. My friend has a cingular 8125, I believe, but the built-in keyboard makes it a little too thick when folded up, and it's only qvga. Had they done the device as wm5 with no keyboard and vga I would have relinquished increased memory and speed in a heartbeat!

Hell Dell couldn't even get the X50v upgrade right.

I suspect this would not only put people on the upgrade path, it would also gear them toward smartphone/pda phones.

Then I just have to hope that it will come out on the X51v.

No more PDAs for Dell

I thought the X51 was the last line of Dell PDA's.

That must mean you have to get a new device to have the new OS.

Wow...and just last year the X51 series came out! That's progress! Soon, your state-of-the art gadgets will be obsolete in just 6 months! :approve:

I thought it was a match to the Windows Vista.

So I can't update my device to the new OS. Wow... Pretty sure Dell has stoped making PDA's. I hope they re-think that..

Looks don't mean sh*t, as it can be altered by programs like WisBar...which makes it look better than anything MS can come up with. What'll really matter is the stability.
