I have Acrobat reader version 1 installed in my Universal running WM5. Whenever I double click the pdf files, the reader opens but it always give me an error message " there was an error opening this document. The file does not exist.". I click ok, then it brings me to the file opening dialogue to go through files then select to open.
It is working but a bit troublesome... Wonder if other forumers have similiar problem or there are better ways to do this.
I have tried version 2, same problem. I tested the utility "Open-with" but the problem does not go away.
Well basically it boils down to four words. Acrobat mobile doesn't work.:realmad:
That's right. It's faulty software. The best you can do is load the pdf in question into acrobat pro and save it as a file that is compatible with the earliest possible version of acrobat. That has lessened the headaches I have with acrobat mobile; but NOTHING else has done a thing to better the situation.
Are you tapping the files from a file explorer program, or from the Open command in Adobe? On my Axim X51 WM5 A12, I have problems if I try to acces the files thru a file explorer program, BUT if I open them from Adobe, they open just fine....

Yes, this is exactly the problem... I can't open the pdf files thru a file explorer program.
I am so used to open exel/word/ebook...etc files from a file explorer. All others work except pdf files.
This is true about opening .pdfs in the explorer being troublesome. But often times acrobat won't recognise some .pdfs. It's very very trickey.:rolling:
I have experienced the same problem with Acrobat: can only open a file from within the Application but not from File Explorer.
I have experienced the same problem recently with the new Coreplayer 1.0: I can only open a file from within the Application but get a "file not found" if I open a file from File Explorer or Resco Explorer. But I have not heard anyone complained about this yet.
This make me wonder whether the problem is related to specific applications or related to a system-wide problem that affects multiple applications.
Pocket xPDF 0.5.0 the latest version seems pretty good. It feels faster than Acrobat ppc reader and I can associate pdf files to it and open them by double clicking. I am switching over to this freeware. :)
Well, the other problem is he's using Acrobat Version 1... when Version 2 has been out since 2003 or so. :D Still, I'll have to second PocketXPDF being improved over previous versions of PocketXPDF (which slowed down terribly when you scrolled on the SAME page - redrawing the whole page), although I find Adobe a second or so faster than that when switching pages - it's much faster at drawing heavy graphics than PocketXPDF currently is.
I actually tried both version 1 and 2 for Acrobat ppc reader. Both have the same problem not able to open files directly from explorer. Since version 1 files size is much smaller, that was the reason why I kept version 1 and not version 2.
Re XPDF, I actually found it faster than Acrobat readers even with some graphic intensive files... may be it is just personal experience. But I really like it now to double click and open the pdf files... :)
Adobe Reader 2's faster than REader 1, IIRC - which is probably why you're finding XPDF faster - I've got it instaled again myself, since 0.50 came out - it does a great job rendering pages full-screen, better than Adobe does in my opinion, and keeping the pages readable.
