12:00AM Problem.

Sorry for lack of a better name. At 12:00AM my PPC turns on. Every night! Usually it doesn't even shut off, just a blank white screen.

Anyone got any ideas?

Technically, it's a 'feature.' All PPCs wake up at midnight to check the scheduling but t should shut back down. You might try doing a soft reset before putting it to bed for the night.

Well this feature stinks! I am just lucky I go to bed after 12AM otherwise I'd be waking up to a dead Axim everyday!

I never realized that the unit wakes up at midnight and then shuts down again. Thanks for the info.
Is there a user setting to change this to another time?

That 'midnight check' has been part of every WM OS I've ever worked with (back to PPC02 on my X5). I doubt that there is an easy way to change the time.

glennosmond, the obvious solution (even if you went to bed before midnight) is to plug the PPC into the wall outlet overnight. It's a good way to keep the battery healthy.

If I remember correctly, it also occurs on the Palm OS. It updates PIM data and alarms for the day. The device should turn back off. If you have an email account that is set to check for new messages every so often or a weather app that may be trying to update, maybe it is preventing the device from turning back off. If you don't have any third-party apps or today plugins installed, I would follow ikehiker's suggestion and leave it on a charger at night.

I'm pretty sure it is a 3rd party app. Every night I'll wait and watch it disabling a different program everyday until I find the culprit. Here is exactly what it does, visually: 12:00AM: Turns On. Shows my password screen. Then the screen gets set to it's lowest backlight setting while being white. Then it just hangs......... never shutting off, for at least an hour.
