Basic Bluetooth connection
I am trying to talk to a PSC Quickscan QS6500BT bluetooth scanner with the Dell x51v. The quickscan says to connect by:
The feature allows the imager to be linked to any Bluetooth (BT)
enabled device which can accept such a connection with other devices.
To implement this mode, follow these instructions:
1. Place the imager in Programming Mode by scanning the START bar code.
2. Scan the “Connect to a BT Device” bar code to put the imager in
the mode enabling a link to a device other than its own Base Station.
3. Scan the END bar code to exit Programming Mode.
4. Scan the “Begin Pin” bar code.
5. Set the four- to six-character PIN code assigned to the target Bluetooth
device using the bar codes available in Appendix B, Alpha- Numeric Pad.
6. Scan the “End Pin” bar code.
7. Use the software that drives the other BT device to scan for devices
in the area.
The QS6500BT imager will be displayed as "PSC handheld scanner."
Each BT device uses different methods to link, so you’ll need to follow the instructions for the device being connected to.
NOTE The Serial Peripheral Protocol is the only interface supported.
I have been able to detect the device with the x51v and I believe I setup some ports but I am not able to determin if it is actually talking to the scanner. When I can something it makes an error sound. Is there an easy way to determin if the two devices are linked or is there a way to see if any data is coming in on the ports? I was hoping that the setup would be simple like it was on the PC which connected to the scanner base with USB. All I did was open up Internet Explorer to my asp page, which took in the scanned upc and sent the data to database and returned my information. I don't even know if I do get the two to talk will the device automatically translate the scanner input into keyboard input. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
