ListPro reinstallation

If you are like me you know the trouble often involved with registration codes.
Therefore this msg to IliumSoft:

Quote:
I've just switched ListPro from my Axim X3i to X51v and was worried about registration procedure.
But everything went smoothless, so:
Thanks for making it all SO easy :-)

Do you mean to say that ListPro is not limited to only one device? That is easy to deduce, as it does not call home when you register, nor do you provide Illumsoft with any way to ID your Ax before you get your registration code.

I'm also a very happy ListPro user.

I did a hard reset and had to reinstall. I did so with no problem.

"Do you mean to say that ListPro is not limited to only one device?"

You just provide your name and a number once given to you by IliumSoft.

That's all ....

I would expect that your license agreement with Illium states the terms. Unless explicitly stated or licensed for multiple copies, software is almost always a single use license. However, it is often fully transferable. Meaning that it is licensed to the user not the device. It is quite unusual to find PDA or PC software that is intrinsically tied to specific and uniquely identifiable hardware. When in doubt, always check the license agreement or check with the vendor.

AKAJohnDoe - you're completely right.
I do not advocate for any misuse of the license -
My only purpose with post #1 was to express my gratitude toward IliumSoft for making the ListPro transfer so easy..
and share my good experience with other Axim users here.

Even the transition to an old Palm was easy ... Look here

Edit: I must admit that I right now use a trial version on my palm
But the data transfer went just smooth

If I can't get my x51v fixed then I'll have to buy a license for my palm - and that I will

With our software we don't mind if you install to more than one device as long as you are the primary user. For instance, if you have a work computer and a home computer you don't need to buy the PC version twice. It isn't like you can use it in both places at once. Once you buy the software for that OS you can install to whichever computer you are using.

Now, if you want one for your work and one for your assistant, we do ask that you buy an additional copy for the assistant.

It's really a per-user / per-platform (ie: OS) license. And no, we don't tie our registration codes to user names or anything like that. We really dislike it when we get a new device (which happens here at Ilium a LOT) and we have to ask for all new codes just to reinstall to our new PPC.
