Aximsitex50icon WM5 really isnt that bad

A lot of people think that windows mobile 5 sucks, but i have finally convinced myself otherwise. of course, you x50 people still wont agree so really this is x51(v) people. here are some screen shots of my setup. i have removed the start bar and softkeys, which leaves me with a very nice 35 mb ram free, whereas before i had >30.

This looks good, admit it! see, qvga isnt all bad. :approve:

iLauncher is awesome!

Here is my memory

What do you guys have running, and what are your opinions on wm5?

I think that it depends on what you are doing with WM5. At work we had a WiFi router available at some point and three other guys with PDA one with the X30H and two the iPaqs were able to connect no problem. I never did even after a hard reset. Maybe it was the device and maybe it was WM5 but I agree that WM5 was working overall very nicely.

It looks very pretty, but as an OS it's still rubbish!

If there was a easy way of installing 2003 on an X51 I'd do it in a flash

My experience w/ WM5, was w/ my purchase of the axim x51v, at the time of my purchase it came w/ Rom A02, and I was not too happy w/ my pda, to the point where I wanted to sell it

i've since then, all w/ the help of this site, been w/ axim over a 1yr now: a02->a06->a12

I must admit a12 was a major improvement w/ what I use my axim for.

i've noticed increased speeds w/ program launch, also increase speed w/ wifi connectivity w/ my home wireless network.

overall i'm pleased w/ my axim purchase. it took two updates for me to appreciate my axim, maybe w/ the next upgrade it'll be even better.

i've not experienced 2003, but from what I saw and heard, its a stable os, but wm5 will be there one day.

I think a x51v w/a12 runs jus as good as my old x50 w/2003se with an occasional freeze every now n then but the freezes occurred more in 2003se,the only trouble I have w/wm5 is the tv static screen corruption and the false battery latch errors but those have been reduced by 90% since I put some tape on the latch.

Sure, you can eye candy an os all u want, but for me its speed and functionality. If keeping it basic keeps it fast, ill do it.

I agree with you Wylo. I have been perfectly content with my X51 running WM5 and QVGA :approve: Primarily use it for PIM, Word, Excel and moderate web surfing. Hope to add GPS soon.

I've never tried WM2003SE so I wouldn't know how to compare it with WM5 but everything works fine for me. So no complains here.. one happy WM5 user.
