Is there any program that allows you to change the color of the start menu background, preferably even make it translucent? I'm using Wisbar Advance 2 with a skin that has a background for the start menu included in it and I don't like it. Thanks.

Wisbar Advance 2 has the ability to change the background. In WA2's settings, under My Theme, choose custom theme and then import your skin file. Once you have done that, you can change any element of the skin, including the start menu.

Go into WA2's settings.

1. Under My Theme, select Custom Theme
2. Tap on Customize
3. Tap Import Theme
4. Browse to find your current skin file and select it from the list, then click OK
5. Once you return to the Import Theme Screen, tap on the pop up menu in the upper right hand side of the screen (it should say Import Theme)
6. Select Start Menu Skin from the list
7. Browse for other images to use as the start menu background (it should automatically resize any background image that you choose).
8. Once you have selected your background, click OK.
9. You can either keep the custom skin loaded which will use your new start menu background or you can save it as a new theme by selecting Export Theme from the Custom Theme menu.

Is there any way to make the start menu background translucent or does it have to be a picture background?

That one I don't know the answer to. If you leave it blank you will get a white start menu background. You could try a tga file that was designed to be transparent but I don't know if it would work. I woud think that the start menu background would be better with some sort of image so that anything lying underneath it when it opened wouldn't show through and interfere with the text of the menu.

I haven't really played around with the possibilities though as I usually set mine to match the wallpaper in Wisbar Advance Desktop.
