How to make Program Icons?

Is there a way to make Program Icons / Shortcuts?
I want to be able to execute some program without having to navigate to the .exe via the File Explorer.

Thanks.

Yes, a number of ways.

Probably the most common is the Start Menu. Other ways involve additional software. e.g.: SBSH iLauncher, Spb Pocket Plus, WAD/WA2, ...

I use iLauncher. It can run as a today plug-in, as a tab inside of PocketBreeze, or minimized, and also allows icons to be placed into the system tray (Shell Tray). Links and screen prints on my website.

What about like icons in the "Games" Folder, etc.

Can you make icons in there?

Icons are the pictures associated with the programs. They are commonly in .bmp or .tga format on the PDA.

The shortcuts are .lnk files and are really just pointers used to launch the actual program.

The files that are the icons and shortcuts can reside pretty much anywhere on your PDAs file systems.

Guys ... he asked how to make a shortcut, not a description of what a shortcut is.

Rasmasyean ... here's how you can create a shortcut (using only built-in applications).

Open the standard File Explorer. Browse until you find the executable program for which you want a short cut. Tap-and-hold there until you get a menu then select "Copy".

Now ... navigate to the directory where you want to place the shortcut - say \My Device\Start Menu ... or anywhere else. In an empty area of the directory listing do a tap-and-hold and get the menu. You should have an item called "Paste Shortcut". Select that one and a shortcut to the executable item you selected will appear there. If you selected the above directory you will now see the shortcut in the start menu. You can rename it to something besides "Shortcut To xxxx" if you want to.

HTH,

-CB :)

Cool. Thx! Is there a way to make it a picture rather than a "white box"? Is that where you need to attach it to a bmp somehow?

The shortcut should pickup the icon from the exe. The "white box" icon normally displays when the shortcut cannot find the exe, e.g. it's on a removed SD Card.

If you have Resco File Explorer the find the .exe file, tap and hold on it and select "Send to..." from the pop up menu. Another menu then pops up, from which select "Start Menu as a Shortcut".

Then go to Windows\Start Menu and move the shortcut .lnk file from the Start Menu folder to Programs, Games or which ever folder you want it to appear in (it can appear in more than one) using either cut and paste or copy and paste.
