Help needed on setting net drive

I encountered a problem on connecting to my PC's shared folder via wireless in my new x51v. I can connect to the internect via wireless. I followed every step in http://wifi.aximsite.com/network.html, but still no success.

I tried file explorer, resco file explorer, and PocketLAN. None of them works. PocketLAN can find the PC and show its IP correctly, but just refuse to connect to them.

I am really frustrated by the problem.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

Did you try disabling your firewall? You may need to re-configure the settings.

Yes, I tried, but still does not work.

I assigned my PC to a workgroup. It needs a user name and password to access as well. PocketLAN can identify the workgroup, and allows to use login/pass. So I guess that they do not cause the problem.

Thanks!

in file explorer or resco did you type in your pc's name in the open path box with two backslashes ie: "\\My PC" ? The name must be correct and did you go into your admin account on pc and give your pc a name ?

try, with the firewall down, pinging the desktop. also make sure that your router also has a switch built in.

Yes. I make sure that the PC name is correct. I also tried "\\192.168.11.6" (IP of my PC) and it failed as well.

is your pc is connected to the same router as the axim and are you sure your axim is connected to the router also? What actually happens when you type in your pc name ? It should say connecting to server or network path not found.

I just set up my WL-HDD as NAS at home (not doing any traveling right now). I'll let you know when I get home if I can easily connect to it with my Axim; I have had no trouble with either home PC. The WL-HDD's radio is switched off, so it's just a wired net drive now, plugged directly into the 4-port WiFi router.

I figured out the problem. I changed the subnet mask of the router from 255.255.0.0 to 255.255.255.0 to speed up the network scan of Axim. Since I soft-reset axim several times, it correctly updated the subnet mask, while my desktop still used the old subnet mask. After I restarted the PC, my axim can connect to the PC.

I am really appreciate your suggestions! :)
