x51v will not hard boot after a 12 upgrade

My x51v will not hard boot after a A12 upgrade (R129272.EXE). The hard reset screen appears for just a split second and then the unit boots normally. I have trying pressing all 3 required buttons at once to no avail. What can I do?

that is normal. you are only half way through the upgrade. keep it in the cradle when you do this and do not remove it for any reason. it should come back and then hit continue. you should read through the sticky post about how to do the upgrade. but if you just keep going it should work. you cannot actually do the first hard reset like it says in the directions, it just flashes by.

I have the same problem. The upgrade from A06 to A12 did not gave me the "continue" button active, not even after looong time. So, I gave up.
My misery continued afterwords since I installed/uninstalled Vito sistem tooll 1.2 and suddenly a bunch of undeletable 3.5 Gb files with scrumbled names appears in the Windows folder, the hard reset is not working and, lately, also the Sync. went down. Moreover, when pressing any of the 1-6 buttons I receive an error message ("button file can not be open").
So, I think a HARD RESET can solve my axim x51v to recover, but I can not get this with the normal procedure.
Can anybody help, please?

I had this with a friend's machine. The upgrade to A12 failed because the hard reset option never showed up. We finally used the SD Bootloader to upgrade the machine (do a forum search for the exact method). We were able to update the ROM and everything worked fine but even after the upgrade the machine still does not allow for a hard reset because the screen flashes by too quickly. Eventually he is going to call Dell to exchange the machine but for now it works fine. Not sure why this happens but it is definately a A12 thing. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the replay! I have tried hard to figure out what to do and your answer gave me some hopes! Please tell if possible what king of SD card u used, because I have tried with a 256 Mb one from my Canon Camera and I only got a white screen with a blue band on top where was writen "SD Image Update AXX_G3".
Can you provide some more details about the bootloader procedure?
I found on the forum the entire disscution about the exact method, followed very carefully each steps, but I got stuck.
Please help!

Here is the proceedure I used:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ght=bootloader

I followed the exact proceedure and had no problem updating the device. I used a generic SD card - maybe try another card and see if it works for you. As I said it did not solve the hard reset problem. Not sure why this is as the flashing should have given a completely new ROM but the problem remained despite upgrading the machine. Hope this helps.

Finally my Axim is back to normal again! There were 3 problems:
1. my card was actually a MMC card, that looks exactly as an the SD card ! I changed and digitaly formated FAT32 with 2k unit size.
2. the name of the nb0 file has to be DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A12EN.nb0 according to the Dell img file, and NOT DiAd_K_A12_X51v_WM5_EN.nb0 as mentioned in the procedure
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ght=bootloader
3. couldn't figure out the bootloader version and I had to try both file lengths.
For me worked the 41943040 length.
It passed. Now I have again a normal life!
many thanks to ya1950 for giving me confidence!
this forum is a good thing!

HI:
I just have a question regarding this upgrade. I bought an axim51v about 1 year ago and I barely started getting into using it. I came across the software which is A01 and I am trying to get it current to the A12. Here is my question, do I have to download the software that I missed (ex. A06) then do the A12 upgrade or can I just upgrade from what I have A00 to A12? Thanks in advance for your help. Peace.

Have u read Dell instrucions? my first guess is that you can make the upgrade to A12 no mater what Axx you have, since your Axim is x51! good luck.
