Backup and Restore

Why is Backup and Restore not an option on WM5? What was MS thinking? Is there another way to create a full backup of a X51v running WM5?

There is a back up and restore option under programs.
Post your suggestions here.

the built in backup/restore is terrible from what i hear. you would be best to buy spb backup or sprite backup. i have spb and its great. both work though.

The built in backup/restore is not really that bad - at least on my x50v. I just lacks the options you get with SPB backup or Sprite. I you use your PPC just for basic functionality (calendar, tasks, contacts) the built in backup utility will work fine.

For X51v this has been a real problem for me. You may want to read the follwoing by Menneisyys
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=138412

On the x30 High I had lots of luck with SK Tools but it does not work at all with the X51v from my experience. Also the password protection appears to present problems with some of the recommended software. The following is a little informal test I did with my fully loaded machine and the results. The best was with Sprite but even that was mixed:

Good luck. I am still looking myself. So if you find a real workable solution with password protection I really want to know.

I use Sprite Backup 5.1 for my AXIM 51 and its great, I would strongly suggest this product over SPB coz you can restore after a ROM upgrade

A check of my previous posts will show that I am not the greatest fan of the Axim (lol) but i must admit that I have never had the slightest problem with the in built back up/ restore, either pre or post A12, and believe me, I have used it a lot!
