Remove battery icon in tasbar?
Is it possible to remove the battery icon in the top taskbar in WM5? (to the right of the sound icon) I am using Resco Explorer battery icon as a Today plugIn and don't need both it and WM5's as well. I searched around here but can't seem to find an answer.

There might be a way; though I don't know about it and it'll most likely require fooling aournd with the registry.
There is a method where you can replace the battery icon with both date and time. But I can't remember where I found the information (it requires a lot of steps and input into the registry - so you'll definitely need a registry editor). I got mine to diplay dd-mmm-yy format on top and hh:mm am/pm below it in the place where the battery icon used to be...

This would be optimum for me. That's what I would like to do to get the day and time off the screen and up in the taskbar would be great. I tried that previously with a tip I found here and found that it would get all garbled up though. Tried it a few times with the same result. Think it was a pc2003 tweak I tried with that bad result. If anyone knows the way to do this with WM5 I would love to know. Cheers.

Found this in another post and it works, except for the little white outline of a 1/2 box beside the year (07) Other than that, works. If someone knows what that is and how to get rid of it, great. You do need to get rid of the battery icon in order to get the date up there like this. That was my problem before, the battery icon squished everything.
+++ http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...e+date+taskbar (I have to do two soft resets sometimes for the change to take effect - dont know why) Instead of adding a binary value you can do this, 1) Open a registry editor (e.g. PHM or Resco). 2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\ 3) Create a DWord value named "TBOpt" and set its value to "3". 4) Soft-reset. Investigated somemore and found other types of displays: 1) Remove date and time althogether = Change TBOpt value to "0". 2) Display only Time = Change TBOpt value to "1". 3) Display only Date = Change TBOpt value to "2". 4) Display both Time and Date = Change TBOpt value to "3".

Spoke too soon. When the date changed last night to the 10th, I lost the last number of the year. The 7 where that outline was on my screenshot that I attached. (which for some reason I can't see on my post) Is it possible to reduce the font size, so it fits in?
update: a few more soft resets and I got the full date back now.

You can change them with a program
Here: http://venividivici.5u.com/ "TodayScreenSoftKeys 1.0" does the trick.

Okay, after messing around with this for the last few hours, I came up with this reg string: HKLM\nls\overrides\SSDte = "ddd/d " (REG_SZ string, no quotes) This gives me the day abbreviation followed by the day number with no 0 preceding it. After the d value above, you need to add 2 spaces to offset the date to the left so it doesn't get obscurred by the X. (close) I decided that I didn't need the year there as I can probably remember what year it is. I tried, but couldn't get the month to take for some reason. If someone else can get the month to show, please post. I would just get the mm's showing in the date and not the actual month. Screenshot attached. Here are the Microsoft codes for different date formatting in this string: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ateformats.asp If someone else wants to mess around with this, please post results. You can always easily change it back with a reg editor. ![]()

Hi zaharia,
I'm not sure if this is what you want. 1) go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides. 2) Change the SSDte = dd MMM yy (I believe this format is CASE SENSITIVE and make sure you place two spaces after the yy). 3) Change the SDate = [space] (or to whatever the date seperator you used in step #2). I don't know if this is important, but I don't like to risk it. 4) Do a soft reset. By doing the above the date will display today's date as 04 Feb 07. I hope this is what you're looking for. EDIT: Sorry, just reread your post and it looks like you want a format that is similar to this: Sun Feb 4? Change the SSDate value to ddd MMM d. Basically the keys are as follows d = day, M = month, y = year. Remember, it is CASE SENSITIVE.
