won't reset, freezes on boot- what else to try?

Hey guys using WM5 on x50v for a few months now and went to turn it on yesterday and WM5 freezes with 7/8th of the "load bar" stuck. No matter how long I leave the device on to boot, it hangs during boot.

I tried:

-holding power + reset button and resetting factory settings
-Removing battery
-Sync with comp (obviously wont' cause it doesn't finish booting)
-removed all SD/CF cards and repeated the reset process as above

Right now I took the battery out and am hoping that draining the backup battery will somehow do something to reset it even further.

So far, nothing has worked to get this thing to boot. I'm not sure if I'm still under warranty- if at all possible I'd love to avoid talking to some support asshole from India.

Other things to try?

Thanks

I was in your shoes a month ago. I did everything you have except for trying to drain the backup battery and found no remedy other than to call Dell and have them overnight me a refurb. Once it gets to the point where it just hangs and won't even reset, its not going to come back in my experience. I didn't try to kill the backup battery however, so I would be interested in hearing if that works. Otherwise, I hope that you are still under warranty. Good luck with it.

yeah, Dell is sending me out a replacement...

I didn't realize there was a new patch out for the x50v and WM5- I can't wait to get the replacement and try the new update. The things listed on the dell website as "fixes" are like the top 5 problems I've been having with WM5 this entire time.
