SPB Backup or Sprite Backup?

I feel like I'm doing a "tastes great/less filling" decision here, but I'm looking to get some opinions on which backup tool people like best for their WM5-capable Axims. I'm leaning towards the SPB Backup since it's around $16.00 after discount this month on Pocketgear.com, but I've also heard good things about Sprite backup. I understand that much of this would be subjective, but I'd like to get input nonetheless. Thanks in advance!

Spb can be downloaded as a trial: why not try that first and see if you like it, that way, you have nothing to loose

No contest, Breley. Go for the Sprite - the full works. It's dragged my sorry bum out of the mire time and time again. Spb backup is fine, but fairly pedestrian.

I've tried both. Sprite always failed to work after a few weeks. It just stopped and an error came up and told me I had to reload the entire program. It never worked right. SPB has been great. I didn't load it correctly when I first got it. I emailed support and they got right back to me and the problem was corrected immediately and it's worked wonderfully ever since.

Breley, Sprite now has a 10 day trial. I use Sprite on my x51v and it has been working fine for months. I have used it several times to restore my x51v after installing bad software. The restores worked flawlessly.

I (and others) have had problems with SPB Backup's scheduled backups not starting up on the x51v. Some Aximsite members have suggested a fix. I can't remember what it is. You can probably find the thread(s) by searching. BTW, it works great on my x50v.

Take a look at the SPB Backup forum: http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=34

I am currently running them both. See my website for details.

Sprite kicks off at 03:03 daily and maintains 3 backups on the SD card.

Spb kicks off at 04:04 daily and maintains 3 backups on the CF card.

BTW, they do both have trials available, so you can find out for yourself.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll try them both and see which knocks my socks off.

Sprite can restore after a ROM upgrade or device change, SPB can only restore to the same ROM version and device. Not a hard choice considering that you will have to reinstall all your apps and reconfigure your device again after a ROM upgrade if you are only using SPB to backup

Once again, thanks for everyone's input, I really appreciate it. FYI, I have at this stage decided to go with SPB Backup, as it offered me the best value for my money for what I would currently need.

Thanks again!

Be sure to validate the Restore process as well with both products.

I use spb backup. I found spritebackup a little invasive. You have to soft-reset before a backup can begin.

As stated previously, I do run them both; however, I find Spb Backup to be the more "invasive" of the two. See this post and this post for the details.

I would have to have a dual catastophic failure (e.g.: the device hard reset and the SD card completely corrupted) before I would resort to restoring the Spb backup off the CF card. The Sprite backup is always my first choice for a restore.

well, SPB backup has saved me multiple times over the last year. It works, and is well worth the money.
