Wheres the minimalist solution?

I spent most of today trying various programs for my new X51v. Rightn ow I'm using WA2 + WAD and TodayAgenda. It works okay, I guess... but its not quite what I was hoping for.

Really what I want is a minimalistic approach, idealy just one program that can cover all the main oints. By that I would want it to function as a task manager and improve the today screen with icons and hopefully some sort of improved task list, though todayagenda is functionally fine.

Anything I should take a look at?

You want elegant simplicity? You wanted a Palm PDA. But since you have a Dell PPC, there are ways to have a minimalist solution in daily usage, it just takes some setup to get it there initially.

The four main ways are:
  • WisBar Advance Desktop
  • SBSH Pocket Breeze
  • SPB Dairy
  • Standard WM stuff

To that many add either:
  • SBSH iLauncher
  • SPB Pocket Plus

Also, adding a PIM enhancement, such as:
  • PocketInformant
  • AgendaFusion

And a Messaging enhancement, such as FlexMail, as well.

I like the SBSH PocketBreeze + SBSH iLauncher combination, with PocketInformant and FlexMail. You can see how my setup looks and is used on my website.

There is no right or wrong way, whatever works for you is the right way for you. Be sure to trial software to be certain it is right for you before buying.

I opted for the Dell because of its excellent sound quality, and the main purpose of it is as an MP3 player. The The Palm TX simply can't match it SQ wise.

Games, and actual PDA use is secondary.

BTW, how can I install programs in the WM5 emulator? I figure that will be an easy way to try out some different combinations without messing with my current set up.

I moved to the Dell X50V from a Palm T3 a couple of years back and have no real regrets.

I've not used the emulator. I have a robust backup strategy, so I can get back to wherever I previously was rather quickly.

That's the way to do it!

Emulators will NEVER give you a true feel for what's gonna happen in the real world.

mmmmmmmmmmmm...........can you say Sprite BackUp?.....I knew that you could!!!!

I've found that spb Pocket-Plus and Pocket Informant are a good combination. Pocket Plus does a nice job organizing the Today screen and Pocket Informant covers all the Outlook features very nicely.
