Often times will wake up in the morning with the Axim battery dead. Any suggestions?

Well, it is never fully off. You can simply push the power button and the display "sleeps" but processes are still running. I use a task manager to force apps that remain running in the background to an off state if I really don't need them to remain active. When I am not using mine I tend to hold the power button in until I get the notice and shut down that way. I believe this minimizes power use. There are a number of threads in archives about this, and similar, issues.

the biggest cause of this is leaving wifi turned on when you power down the pda. that is a bug in the OS and I don't know if they will ever fix it. Other issues are things that are trying to get updates like some weather programs, mail programs etc. The pda wakes everynight at midnight to sort of orient itself to the things that will happen in the new day and if something is trying to get an update or if wifi was left on it most likely won't turn off until it kills the battery.

Seriously, have you tried the fake server trick? It can fix a battery drain problem, as well as other irritations. An explanation along with step-by-step instructions appears here (thanks to g00nerz):
