Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforppc.html
(don't think it works with WM5)

Microsoft Reader for Pocket PC
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/ppc.asp

I use Microsoft reader on my dell axim x51v (WM5)

I second Susan's vote for MS Reader. Moreover, there are far better pdf readers for the ppc with far smaller memory footprints than Adobe Bloatware.

Well, then there are professional e-books that will only run on Adobe. The adobe alternatives will not run thos ebooks. I hate it too but it is a must for some of us. So, 2.0 will run on WM5 but you need a force VGA utility. I noticed one on this site that will let you check box what programs you want to force VGA. Do a search and you will find it.

If you run adobe and it doesn't work, I found a "supposed" fix
http://www.wm5fixsite.com/index.php?...=186&Itemid=35

which says to try the following:

I have found a way how adobe reader 2.0 will work on wm5. Simply follow these steps:

-Install Adobe Reader 2.0 on your PPC
-Install Total Commander avaiable here: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
Only with total commander you can change the registry
- start the Total Commander and go to "\" which will lead you to the registry
- in "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAdobeAdobe Reader4.0AdobeViewer" you have to change the entry: EULA from "0" to "1"

Done! Now adobe 2.0 should work on your PPC!

I haven't tried it...but if you run into problems, it might be worth seeing if it works!

Cool A better altenative

I too am never satisfied with the various PDF readers for PPC. My suggestion,

Step 1: Install Repligo (in Both- PC & Pocket PC)
Step 2 (in the PC): Convert whatever PDF that you want into the Repligo format
Step 3: Transfer the converted *.RGO file into your device
Step 4 (in the Pocket PC): Open it with the Repligo program that you installed in your Pocket PC

Voila!!! Try it out and I am sure you will be much happier without the Adobe in your PPC!

I love Repligo, too bad you can't convert files on the PDA for when you're away from home and downloading, that's the only drawback

I've never had any trouble using Adobe Reader on my Axim x51v, WM5 (and you don't need any registry hacks to make it work, nor do you need to force VGA for the program). If you can be more specific about what is happening when you try to use the program, perhaps we can sort it out.
