I have deleted some programs off my dell aximX51v but they still show under programs tab but with the generic window icon. How do i delete them off the program list also?
Thanks

Did you delete the programs using "Remove Programs" within Settings>System, or did you delete the directories directly with a file explorer?

Personally I would recommend reinstalling the programs first (to get the uninstall info back). Then installing sktools and use it's uninstallation utility find the name of the program you wish to uninstall and then select deep scan this will locate most of that programs registry entries. After the scan is complete select uninstall marked.

Your still not finished yet then go to registry search in sktools click on action>start search> enter the name of the developer after relevant keys are located delete them. Then enter the name of the program this usually finds the rest of the associated reg. keys delete those as well.

Please note that if you have several programs from the same developer you will need to read the discription of each reg. key before deleting them. If in doubt don't.

I have found that I sometimes have this issue happen even if I used "remove program" and I believe what is happening is that the link (in /windows/start menu/programs as mentioned above) is seen as "in use" because of a launcher or menu program I'm using and so is not removed from the /windows/start menu/programs directory. The program itself is gone (which is why the icon goes to a generic window,) so it is just a matter of deleting the link file.

The reason I asked how the program was removed is because you'll also see the generic window icon if the program's directories were just deleted and it wasn't systemically removed. In that case I would recommend re-installing and then uninstalling in order to clean up the registry.
