Wifi connection establishment - way too slow

Takes about 1 min in my case, LinkSys WLAN router + Axim v51x

same story in city cafes etc

Why so slow? Some people say the rival Fujitsu Pocket Look device can connect to WLAN in a jiffy

is it a config issue or hardware limitation with Axim? Please advise, thanks

Have you tried disabling powersave in your Dell WLAN utility (assuming WM5 has one)?

it is disabled on my Axim.

i guess the problem is that the list of previously available networks is too large, so Axim tries to check them all, before finding the right one.

Is there a way to specify the networks that should ALWAYS be checked first?

I always delete old networks I've connected to and only keep the 2-3 I always use - mine connects in usually in 10-15 secs. I don't know of a way to identify the order in which to check but you can select a network, hold the stylus and select Connect to force a connection.

before, it was possible. Now (not sure if installation of Broadcomm BT stack could be the problem), i cannot get to context menu in the network list. When I select the row and hold the stylus, the options like "Connect" don't appear. I did not try Hard Reset yet to solve this problem. I hope to find more easy way to fix it.
