Has Anyone Heard???

Was wondering just how much of the Ipaq File Store is going to be left with the install of WM5.0?

I was wondering the same thing, I think we should have a good amount left over since devices like the Loox 720 with 64mb ROM will be able to handle the 5.0 Upgrade.

I would imagine the OS image to be about the same size it is now. I'm just worried about manufacturers (HP I'm looking at you) bundling a bunch of crap I don't need.

True, BUT, I've always been of the opinion that MS tends to put a lot of faith in "code-overhead". I certainly hope that all of these reported new features won't balloon the size of the OS.

Yes indeed. No more outdated video players or bare minimum backup stuff, I am hoping that, if they are going to forsake us on the rom fix that didn't come in last month perhaps they can work the OS IO with the hardware such that it'll camoflage some of the existing problems...... Maybe I'm just dreaming.

Voice Command is supposed to come in ROM and that is supposed to be a pretty good memory hog. I also hope that they don't load the ROM with a bunch of stuff we don't use. I would love to replace Media Player with Betaplayer.

I heard about this too. Could be a problem on some devices.

I thought Voice Command was a option that could now be bundled in the Rom. So some will get it and some won't.

I suspect that it won't be available as part of the upgrade.... but then what do i know

I was kind of surprised to see it myself. HP has it listed as part of the 5.0 upgrade.

Wouldn't it be nice if they just put in the "hooks" in the rom and left us to our own choices?

That would be awesome, one of the coolest programs for Palm ws Jack flash that allowed you to do just that. I really hope this can be an option on PPC one day.
