MW5 used with MWPPC
can older operationg systems like windows media pocket pc 2003 replace their operating system with the new WM5, i know it needs a faster processor but its like installing windows XP on a 600mhz PIII, its kinda slow but it still runs, is it the same philosophy or different, thanks , i have the HP ipaq 4155 , and i want to upgrade to mw5,

Hi IpaqGuy. Unless HP creates an WM5 upgrade for the 4155, and they've indicated that they don't plan on it - only on the hx24xx,hx27xx, and hx47xx series, then you won't be able to upgrade your 4155.
In addition to a fast processor, WM5 also requires a fairly large FileStore because it will use a new memory management scheme. All programs will be inatalled into FileStore (ROM) and run in RAM as opposed to today where programs are installed to RAM (or filestore if you have one) and are also run from RAM. That being said,,,there may be folks who try to hack the new OS to run on other devices, but it wouldn't be legal. | |||||

swhoutx035, i went to your link on the bottom of your post, and noticed your pda with a cool skin and alot of stuff allover the place, how do you do that, what type of software do you use to get it looking like that, which is alot better than the plain looking OS

Just so you know, the faster processor has nothing to do with upgrading. What matters is the amount of available ROM that the particular devices has. The 4150 still ranks highly (even amongst current PPC's) in the speed department. If it could handle a WM5 upgrade, it would run fine with it's 400mhz processor.
