No more Wi-Fi Companion for non Socket devices

According to this link, Wi-Fi Companion software for Axims and other PPCs has stopped:

Quote:
Wi-Fi® Companion Software
This software only supports Socket products, including the SoMo 650 and Go Wi-Fi! WLAN cards. Support for non-Socket products has been discontinued.

That's a real shame, because this is one of my most favored utilities....

Yep, same here. Dell WLAN doesn't hold much of a candle to it...

That figures, I just installed it and got it working. Seems to work OK, hope I don't have any future problems.

Technically speaking, they would have to honor all previously sold licenses, so all pre-existing users of the plain-jane WiFi Companion should have no further problems installing and running the program.

This does mean that if you have Technical Support issues for WiFi Companion working with non-Socket hardware, then you may have problems. However, I cannot see Socket failing to honor such technical support requests...

No animals or trees were harmed in the production of this post - however, several billion electrons were seriously inconvenienced.

Hmmm.... so if you've got an older Socket CF card in your Axim X5 (because it has no internal wireless h/w), does this mean they'll support it or not? True, that's WM2003 and this is the WM5 forum, but is Socket cutting everything adrift or are they still supporting their own hardware, even if it's slapped into a Dell PPC?
