Aximsitesoftwareicon What was Lakeridge software doing when they created the new wisbar?

I remember the old wisbar advance that ran on ppc 2003 and 2002 as freeware, I go to get it for my new x51v. Ok, it costs money now, ok only 10 dollars, good price to pay for efficient multitasking ability.

So they made some improvements, ok a revamped menu start bar. Great, not necessary but good. Then I look at the settings and customization... VERY DISPLEASED, all I see is themes, no type of button function selection, how about those little program icons, you know like windows OSes have... NONE, how about those options where it modifies the way the close button works, you know, when you click close it closes the program and flushes it from the memory also know as disabling smart minimize... Nothing.

Anyone else feel the way I do?

Regards, Derek

No, I do not feel the way you do. If you just want something just to close the apps and a little more for free, then you can use magic button. There are alternatives, free too, if you so wish. You do have a choice.
Wisbar Advance caters to people who want more and willing to pay for it. Development of software needs time and effort. That small amount of money is not too much to pay for the effort that Chris puts in.

Your comment about what the software does is also not very fair. If it is that simple, then why don't you spend all your time doing it and give it out free.

Um... you didn't look at the "General Properties" menu by chance, did you? It still DOES all that - at least I had no issues figuring it out after opening all the menus in the "Settings" program. There are checkboxes for ALL of those settings in there - you have to be blind, illiterate, or both to have missed all of them, at least if you were using Wisbar Advance 2 and not Wisbar Advance Desktop or something.

Themes are there to make the taskbar and buttons look different - you can choose to hide icons if you want to, but I usually leave them showing. You can reorganize the order of the buttons on the taskbar, or choose not to show some or all of them. You cannot modify the System Tray with Wisbar Advance 2: for that, you need WBA 3. You CAN show tasks at the top taskbar as running tasks, and use "hold to close" functionality.

It looks like I was mislead by first impressions, Haesslich, I did miss a menu. I did not appreciate the rude comment... but I can't comment since well, I was pretty ignorant and oblivious to my level of rudeness in my initial post.

Apologies to anyone who reads this.

Hmmm, 2am, I think I should get some sleep.

Apologies, Derek

I would add noe thing to this, I bought Wisbar ages ago and loved it, it was only recently when I read thread about how much memory everyone had at rest that i had problems. It seemd 25MB+ was normal whereas I had 16.

I did a hard reset and re-installed everything and I keep finding the culprit is the latest release of Wisbar Advance 2. It can take up to 6MB of memory on my x51v!!

Without it, and running Widcomm, Pocket Plus, SPB Diary, and with ClearVue, TomTom, Adobe, Profimail, TCPMP, Resco Explorer, Resco Keyboard, Think outside KB, Tweaks2k2, Pocket Informant and more I have 24MB on Start up, with it I get 18MB!!

This is from a clean Hard Reset. And I installed Wisbar first!!

Any ideas?

I think it has to be something else. I run Wisbar advance 2 on my X51V, tweaks2K2, Memmaid, Think Outside KB, PI, REsco explorer and calligrapher on start up and still have 24 Mb.

Hmm, I'm not clear, are you guys speaking of ram or storage memory?

The program file folder on my Wisbar Advance 2 with one extra skin in the folder is about 1MB.

RAM, without wisbar at startup:31.13mb free
with wisbar at startup: 30mb free

Regards, Derek

I installed the new Beta 4 for WA3 and it only took about 1MB, but as soon as I pressed Start Menu it lost another 4MB, which after closing start Menu I did NOT get back.

Try Oxios Hibernate to free RAM.

Actually WBA3 is a free upgrade if you bought WBA2 after June, IIRC... but still, use the beta, get a feel for it, then buy it when the time comes.
