I'm looking for a program that will run in the background and alert me to new email. my poket msn doesn't do this, even though I have my notifications set to play a sound for new email. thanks

If you've created some POP3 or IMAP4 messaging accounts on your pocket pc and set them up to retrieve messages in regular intervals, and also enabled the notification to play a sound when new mail is received, all you shouldhave to do is open up the messaging application and leave it running in the background. If you close the application, you won't receive any new email notifications.

Of course this assumes you are also maintaining an internet connection that is used to retrieve emails.

a quick google search found this
Freeware downloads E-Mail Tools - E-mail Notification at SnapFiles.com

(I can't vouch for any...but they sound interesting...and work with any POP3 account)

Might work?

Thank you so much for the replies. I have my MSN account set up in the Messaging program on my Axim, I think they call it MSN Mobile? But when I try to add my MSN account to the Hotmail email program, it asks for incoming and outgoing server info, which I do not know. Does anyone have that info??

Many thanks

I'll give this a try Susan, I thought it had to be something like:

mail.hotmail.com ????

Also Susan, thanks for that link you provided. I did download and install a little app called Mail Alert which inserts itself into Outlook 2002 and gives you a pop-up window alert showing the sender and a little bit of the email. You can delete or respond to it from the pop-up without going to Outlook. My Outlook also would not play a sound when new mail arrived. I hate configuring email programs.

Watchflag seems to work pretty well for e-mail notifications. I just downloaded the trial yesterday and am still experimenting with it.
