how to disable wmp auto-scan cf media

everytime i put in a cf card, windows media player pops up and asks me if i want to scan the media. I use pocket player, and need a way to disable the popup (or wmp all together)

I think it has something to do with how the card is formatted. I used to get that message whenever I inserted my 2GB SD card into my IPAQ, but since I started using a different card I don't get the message any more. The new card came unformatted so I formatted it in my computer.

You could try formatting the card to see if that takes care of it.

This is just a "feature" of WMP apparently. To avoid it, make sure WMP is properly shut down. (A soft reset will close everything.)

I got the message even when WMP was closed. I used to think it was a "feature" with WM5.0, but I don't get the message at all with the card I formatted.

go to: start>settings>system tab>memory>running programs tab. Tap on Windows Media and tap the stop button. that should close wmp and keep the message away.

prett sure it opens wmp whether its running or not.

I NEVER use wmp, but it still pops up all the time, even after rebooting the axim
