Where did these files come from?

And is it OK to delete them? They some how were put on my SD card over seven months ago and I have no idea why. I was going to just delete the folder, but don't know if this will have any grave consequences. They were last changed on 2/13/07. They are in a folder "Windows" which I did not put on the card. I'm guessing they were put there by an installed program, but I have no idea what at this point.

Anyone know what they are for or why they got put on my card by my PDA? Can I delete the folder?

edit: They are all .dll files- a total of 14 files equaling 4.02 MB.

I suspect you installed some programs on your SD card which required these files to work. If you delete them those programs will not work. An easy way to test this would be to rename the folder 2-Windows and see what doesn't work.

Just tried that and all programs seem to be working fine. I went through entire programs list and ran each separately. Maybe they are from a program I installed and then uninstalled?

I believe those files are related to Microsoft Net Compact Framework 2.0. Deleting them won't cause any problems until you run one of the applications that requires Net Compact Framework 2.0.

Okay, but I don't think I installed .Net 2.0 to the card. How can I tell where I installed it (don't remember- it was in April when I installed it)?

I installed it to card as was recommended because of the very large size of the installation. Might you have done the same?

You can check your installed applications - and then uninstall Net Compact Framework if you don't need it any more. Not sure about the Axim, but the IPAQ has a utility for this, and you can get to it by tapping Start > Setttings > System > Remove Programs.

But you could also look in SKTOOLs Installed Programs option (if you have this software).

A few apps that use the framework 'helpfully' install it for you if you haven't got it.

I bet I did install it to my SD card. Now I do kind of remember the recommendation to install to a card because of the size. I just hate it when I see something I don't recognize on either my device or card. It must have installed there and I didn't notice it at the time.

Thanks for the info everyone! I believe I'll leave them alone.
