Question Application/Registry tweak to prevent hard reset?

Hi all, may I ask you a humble question. Is there a program/registry tweak that can prevent the machine from being hard reset? Or at least provides it as an option? I am using X51v running WM5. Thank for helping! x2h

thanks for replying. I am just thinking, if one can achieve soft/hard reset with softwares like handy manu and others, why couldn't one do the opposite with the software?

Soft reset is simple, a million apps do it

Hard resets typically require something in the ROM and bay not always be exposed to an API.

However, I suppose it might be possible that it COULD be done, but a hard reset is the last step in recovering a malfunctioning device, blocking that would probably be a bad idea

Why is this a concern to you? What are you trying to accomplish?

good question. i am just concerned if I lost my Ax, even though it's protected with a security software (PocketSecure), after a hard reset, it's all gone. yes the data is protected since it will be wipted out by the hard reset, but the Ax is usable again1.

if I can prevent a hard reset, then I can make it a brisk even I will not receover it.

So, what then would you like to happen if you lose the pocket pc? Do you want to make it so if someone resets it, the pocket pc is unusable?

If the hard reset can be prevented, it's still protected by the security sofeware and no one else can use it.

There's really no way to disable the hard reset.

There is always a way

Simply void the warranty by opening up the case and desolder the reset button :hide:

thanks but I would like to keep soft reset function please:). there are times my machine will freeze and the only way to get out of it is to poke the soft reset hole at the back.

come on guys, a hard reset on X51v comprises two steps: press and hold power button while poking the soft reset hole. if there's a way to achieve this via a software, there's gotta be a way to block it via software too...

i realize that this might take some time to achieve, while currently a more realistic approach to is make a ROM that includes the security siftware so that even after a hard resent it's still protecting my machine. I don't know how technologically chalenging is that, but could someone first point me to a link for a tutorial of ROM-making? Thanks!
