Question WM 5 question

A PDA I brought not too long ago Asus A730W has PC2003se on it I was wondering since Asus never had a ROM update for it can I buy an upgrade Cd for WM5 and have it work?

No, unfortunately that's not how OS upgrades work for pocket pcs. The OS has to be customized by the OEM to run on your pocket pc.

There really isn't much standardization in hardware on a pocket pc like there is in computers. For windows mobile devices, the OS must be customized to run on each mobile devices unique hardware and constraints. I don't see that changing any time soon.

WM5.0 works fine on the two pocket pcs I have that came with it already installed. But I've read so many threads from users who upgraded their pocket pcs to WM5.0 and started having a lot of problems. Because of those threads, I did not upgrade one of my pocket pcs that could have been upgraded to WM5.0.

Honestly, I don't really think WM5.0 added that much to a pocket pc. It is nice to have persistent memory and not worry about battery going flat, but since I use an extended battery with my windows mobile 2003se pocket pc, that's really not much of a concern to me.
