skype wm5 issue

Hi
I have been using Skype on my hp ipaq 2795b (WM5) for over a year no, but teh other day it stopped being able to initiate calls. It would still log on and give me the correct skype out balance, but showed my availability as offline.

I decided to try and update to teh newest version of skype - I think i had 2.2.018.
so i downloaded the latest cab and ran it on the ppc. it asked if i would like to uninstall the old version first. To which I replied yes. it then went about uninstalling the old version, came up with a message that skype was not completely uninstalled, then attempted to install the new version. It camw back with a screen saying that it couldn't install skype and would i like to try installing it anywhere else. I clicked on the storage card, and it came up with the same message and then closed the window. I have plenty of storage space left boht onthe internal memory and on the storage card.

I next went into the registry and tried to remove all skype mentions -not sure if this was a good idea or not, but gave it a go.

tried to reinstall the new version -no go.
downloaded the new skype.exe and ran it - same problem
found an older version on the web - 2.20.18 ran that cab - no go.

I have loaded pocket informant since the last tiem that I has tried skype, as well as the sdhc update program to enable reading of sdhc card onthe ppc (which works by the way.

anyone have any ideas other than a clean reset?

thanks
