Worried WM5 on the X3?

Hi All

Would Windows Mobile 5.0 work on the Axim X3? If so, where would I go about buying a copy of the upgrade software?

Thanks!

Not possible.

Unlike its windows desktop counterpart, wm devices cant be upgraded to newers oses as easy as a desktop can be.
Dell has to release the upgrade in order for it to work. And dell never released one for the x3. The x50 has a wm5 update although its slow, and the x51 comes with wm5.

If you see any roms not released by dell they are illegal.

Since the post is on i will use it for the same purpose but to my axim x30, and my question is different.

IF there a possible way to make WM03 look like WM5 or WM6??
I create some themes on my Axim that look similar to WM6 themes, the difference is that i dont have the same start menu bar, and the icons.

SO if there are a possibility yo modify the themes, icons ?? without changing the OS and ROM??

You can get the software wisbar which is a skinning program and find a wm6 theme for it. This is totally legit, once you buy the software. And it will make ur device look like wm6. But it will still be wm2003 on the inside.

If you actually read the forum policy (which I am sure you have, but you're just being ignorant), modified roms not released by Dell that are LEGALLY LICENSED for that axim is alright. You can hack the X3 or X30 rom to put WM5 on there, but with that Windows CE version having new hardware requirements and requiring a new bootloader, I don't think that it would work. All you need is the axim rom, the rom of device with the newer os, Xipport, M'Relloc and some time to hack the roms. However, I don't recommend you try this on your own and I don't encourage it either unless you are working with something legal.

Wm5 cant be legal for the x30, if wm6 for the x51 is illegal.
