Moving Outlook/Activesync to a new computer

My employer replaces our computers on a 3 year cycle and the time has come for my present laptop to be retired. I've had my x51v for about 2 years and only have the OEM Dell install CD. The Axim is my personal PDA and both it and Outlook are unsupported by my employer(we use Lotus Notes for email) and I only use Outlook for PIM.

What do I need to move Outlook and ActiveSync to the new laptop? Do I need to "unregister" or uninstall the software on the old machine first? I'll have access to both laptops for about one week to make the transition.

Thanks!

You could try installing Outlook to your computer. If you cannot use the license code that came with the CD, you will probably get a message when you attempt to use it that includes a phone number to call. You'll call that number, explain that you are moving things to a new computer and Microsoft will fix it for you.

If your new computer is running the Vista operating system, you'll need to download and install Windows Mobile Device Center to sync your pocket pc (ActiveSync does not work on Vista machines). But if your new computer is running XP, you can install ActiveSync from your CD or you can
download the latest version of Activesync from Microsoft's website.

Thanks Julie! We're sticking with XPPro for now - and that's fine with me. I'll give it a try tomorrow(cradle's at the office).

Did the install this morning - no problems at all. Just entered the code from the OEM CD and all was well...

Thanks again!
