I laugh everytime I find a thread closed because the words axim + wm6 have been used in the same sentence yet there is a wm6 forum here on AXIMsite ha,yea I have wm6 and it works great it even says so on my profile ,closing down threads with those 2 words is not going to silence the fact that there are axi,m users that have wm6,im not trying to fight I just think the thread closings are funny.
I tend to agree with you but there are other forums to discuss the topic. I thought that they revised the rules so it could be discussed to certain extents.
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is as long as a thread does not link directly to the site or download.
Eric, your point about having a WM6 forum here is irrelevant. You do realize that there are plenty of devices with legally installed WM6 on them? Aximsite is no longer just about Axims.

Amen, brother! I remember when Aximsite was all about Axim users testing the limits of their devices and pushing the boundaries of the hardware.
It confuses me that one of the most popular Axim-related threads here is about hacking the Widcomm stack for WM5, when it is most certainly not licensed. Ever since the merger with Mobilitysite, non-Axim mods--who don't know why we're so excited about the WM6 updates giving new life to our faithful devices--have forced us to discuss ROM development at a certain competing forum for HTC products that doesn't even have a dedicated Axim board.
I know that the forum policy currently does not permit discussion of the Axim's WM6 ROM, and that this policy was decided on several months ago. Since then, however, the iPaq 210 has come out, and several other current Pocket PCs have been given official WM6 ROMs. I propose a WM6 Classic forum where all non-phone devices may be compared and discussed. As long as there are no direct links to ROMs, there should be no legal issues and Axim users will have a place to discuss their devices with users of similar devices. I realize that the post above me shoots this possibility down. Hear me out, however.
A vibrant Aximsite with useful information about the latest developments for what is, IMHO, the best PPC ever, would attract more users, and hence more revenue. Right now, the forums have almost no Axim threads; it's almost all posts for the Water Fountain and Pocket PC-Phones, with an occasional thread from a noob who bought an X5 for $50 off eBay and wants to know where the "on" switch is. Dell may have stopped supporting Axims, but the community has picked up where they left off. Aximsite has lost out on most of the discussion, however.

Aximsite may no longer be just about Axims, but some of us "just" have the best Pocket PC ever made. Please, give us back our Aximsite. Not all of us can afford to buy a new device to get WM6 on a device that is practically the same as what we already own, and the discussion of the Widcomm stack is just the same as WM6 discussions. This used to be a great board for people like me who wanted to get the most from their devices. Now, just put WM6, X51V, and "Football" in the same sentence, and the thread is closed instantly. Maybe only Axim owners should be allowed to moderate Axim-related boards, so that they know why we feel the way we do.
If there's enough discussion here, maybe Dell would take notice of the popularity of upgraded Axims and release an iPod Touch-killer X61WV--PXA320, 800x480 WVGA screen, net-gen 3d card, 32GB flash, swappable battery, and WM6.1. I'd find the cash for something like that. Otherwise, my Axim with the taboo ROM represents the state-of-the-art, and it's three years old. Right now, Dell and Microsoft can't be losing any money from WM6 on the Axim, as there is no official ROM for us to use. This site was a godsend when I started out on my WM journey with my X5, and the presence of Aximsite influenced my decision to buy an X51V over an HX4700. Aximsite once was a great forum. Please, don't let the Mobilitysite merger kill it!

O, the good old days. This is what aximsite was all about, its more fun taking risks and telling people about these risks then just staying with the same old thing. Especially people who you know are friendly and always helpful.

Agreed. This would be an amazingly useful forum to have!!!
I'm sure it's already been tried, but I'm going to contact Dell about their stance on WM6, since Axim development has halted. If they don't care, I see no issue since Microsoft, from what I understand, provides WM6 images free to manufactures.
Guys, we all love to hack our devices. But, its actually Microsoft that gets mad if ur site is distributing roms, b/c all they care about is money.
I think the reason discussion only isnt allowed, is b/c it would lead to links being posted more often, and legal trouble with Chris. And the last thing us axim-junkies want is aximsite getting shut down.

There are definitely legal, ethical, & moral issues regarding hacked roms. I propose Microsoft setup some kind of pay-pal account. That way everyone with illegal ROM could make a donation. Then Microsoft could turn around & give the money to charity.
In way Microsoft has created this problem themselves by creating some of the need tools to make these ROM & distributing them to anyone.
I think those that don't like to follow the rules should ask for a refund of their subscription fee's and find a website where they are free to discuss whatever RAM's, ROM,'s, or REM's they like.
Just a suggestion.
