I'm not sure what you are trying to do here, but most of HP's ROM updates, especially the ones for WM5.0 or earlier devices, are not compatible with Vista and should only be run from an XP machine. You risk bricking your device running an update like this from a Vista machine.

Im trying to get WM2003SE back on my device because WM5 is making me insane. Well thats stupid, there is no XP machine in my household, we have vista and mac. Gahhhh.
I guess you posted your question on HP's forum, but I'll answer it here too. You can find a downgrade utility on the WM5.0 upgrade CD that you used to upgrade the hx2415 to WM5.0. You must use an XP machine for this - perhaps you have a friend that has an XP machine?

The error message (608) could indicate a problem with the power supply - at least that's been the case when other IPAQ users have encountered this error when attempting to run a ROM update on their pocket pcs. Is your Pocket PC plugged directly into AC power for this procedure? Also please confirm that you are plugging the USB cord directly into a USB port on the computer and are not using a USB hub.
I don't know why you have an issue receiving help from me because I am a moderator. I am probably one of the more knowledgable IPAQ users on this board - I own 4 different IPAQs and am a frequent poster on the HP IPAQ forum, so what's the problem?

Ok thank you, i will try that and let you know what happens.
Oh I don't have a problem with you answering my questions, I was just saying like theres nobody else here, as in these forums seem to be pretty dead. But any who its all good.
Same error. I'm pretty sure I'm using the wrong ROM installer. The one I'm using is from the hp website and I'm suppose to be using the one that came with the cd.
Yeah you need to use the downgrade utility that was included with the WM5.0 upgrade. Trying to install a ROM upgrade posted on HP's website that assumes you are running windows mobile 2003 will not work. There might be a way to hack the file to run, but I don't know anything about it. You can probably find a WM5.0 upgrade CD on eBay.
