X51v: WMP and Switcherbar not working

Switcherbar went first, not sure when it died. I noticed it wasn't working one day and tried to restart it, all I get is a beep when tapped.

WMP was working fine. I used advice from another thread and used WMP to sync a video of my grandkids to the pda, wouldn't play otherwise. I played that video about halfway through, then it stopped. Now when I try to play MP3's it will only play 4-5 songs, then stop. Won't play again until I kill it in memory and restart.

Any ideas? I wouldn't mind a hard reset if I HAVE to, but consider that the second to last resort, with WM6 being THE last resort.

Have you actually tried a simple Soft Reset?

This seems to be more appropriate in the Axim subforums...

If the soft reset doesn't work, try the Activesync trick.

With the mp3, what do you mean by "stop"? Does it refuse to play or stop in the middle of the song?

I guess there are still some diehard WM5 fans left.

Yeah, I've done many soft resets after this started.

What I mean by stop is that WMP stops playing. Like it finishes a song and then stops as if that is the last song on the list, which it isn't, and I have it set to repeat anyway.

New development

I formatted that particular SD card with my desktop, and while it's been removed the switcherbar is working now. Haven't tried WMP yet, all my music was on the card.

BTW, it's not so much I'm a diehard fan as I don't really see any point in upgrading. The only real complaint I've had so far is with A2DP, and the Widcomm stack cleared up about 90% of that problem.

I use 6 on my TMO wing, so I do have some point of comparison.

Although I am looking into the CorePlayer to replace WMP. :)

The two problems are unrelated, I think.

Did you try to restart the Switcherbar in Start-->Settings (I'm not to familiar with WM5 anymore...)?

Where did you put the files (Video+Music)? SD or the device?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to the boards here.

I'm totally positive it was something to do with the SD card at this point. I've been having trouble loading things to it by inserting it into my media reader, I was always having to plug in my Axim and load it that way.

Because of that, I used a different SD card to load some MP3s. Switcher Bar works fine, WMP has no problem either. I'm totally confused as to why it affected the Axim that way, but it works fine now.

Good thing SD cards have come down in price, now that my 1gb is shot all I have available is a 256mb. :(

And the SD card troubles have been tracked down to the incorrect driver being loaded by Vista after being removed to troubleshoot problems with my original TMO Wing.

I hope this may help someone else.
