WM5 Install problem--anyone else?

First...sorry for the long post but my problem needs detailed explanation.
I downloaded the update from HP for my hx2755 about 2 weeks ago. Ever since, I have had odd problems. ie, Adobe wont install unless installed immediately after doing the equivalent of a Hard reset, HP Protect tools wont work at all, apps installed to my 1gig sd card will work fine for a few days then complain about not being installed correctly and need to be reinstalled, etc. So I decied to reinstall the OS. Here is where I noticed the problem

I use the cradle for the ipaq at my office and have an after-market cable for when I need to install software and stuff at home...otherwise I can sync with bluetooth. I recieved this error the first time I upgraded but I didnt think much of it since I passed through it and the upgrade worked fine. (so I thought) Now when I try to reinstall the OS, I get same error and I cant get past it. The error occurs when the upgrade boots the ipaq into an "upgrade mode" and the screen on the ipaq changes to the same screen you see when you do a soft reset except the words "downloading" are in the bottom left corner. The upgrade then fails and says the rom image is not correct for this SKU and cant proceed. I soft reset the ipaq and then try the process again and the same thing happens. I think it is related to the after market cable. This cable has a small button on it that will let the ipaq just charge while it is connected to my laptop, or I can push it and it will connect to sync and charge. I think when the upgrade trys to reboot the ipaq into the upgrade mode, the cable cant provide power fast enough and the upgrade tries to continue but cant so it gives me this error. Not sure but this problem consistent enough to make me think this is the problem.

I will test this on monday when I get back in the office and try again with the original cradle but has anyone else had this problem using after market cables while doing an OS upgrade?

Thought I would post an update. I tried reinstalling WM5 when I got to the office this morning. Everything went flawlessly..not one error or slowdown. HP Protect tools works fine as do all the other apps I have installed. WM5 seems MUCH faster than the previous install.
