There must be something wrong with my head, for me to be bothered by this.

That stupid bottom bar in WM5 - I found that the icons listed there are in the Windows / StartUp folder. I don't see any value to this bar, and I don't see any value to having lots of programs auto-start after soft reset. I took everything out of StartUp, and the bar was empty. That was good. But Bluetooth didn't work. That was bad. To use Bluetooth, we have to have BTTrayCE in StartUp. I can accept that, but then the wireless control icon shows in the bottom bar.

If I could make this bottom bar disapear, that would be very good.

If I could make the bottom bar show an icon for all open tasks, with options to switch to the task or close the task, that would be great.

I just don't see the point of having auto-start tasks on the Today screen.

Does anybody know what we can do? (Does anybody else care?)

I find that bar kinda helpful, like the system tray on the desktop. I am selective as to what is allowed in it. But I find it the quickest way to get to the wireless choices, to connect my bluetooth mouse (the mouse icon goes there as well), and to relaunch pocket informant.

Agreed in principle, but I can launch PI by pressing my "calendar" button, which is one tap from anywhere.

I programmed the Today screen to the message button. Then I put the WIFI icon & other stuff I use on RhinoLaunch. That makes it a key press and a single tap to anything I use, except closng apps. For that, I programmed an iTask button, so that's also a key press and a tap.

It's not that much real estate, & it does not harm. I'm just being picky, I guess.
