Problem Sending Messages in Outlook

Hi all.

I am using WM5, and I can get my new email downloaded using WiFi, but I cannot send email out. I have made sure that SSL is unchecked, and all of my other settings seem to be okay.

This is very frustrating since I travel frequently and would like to be able to reply to email via the PDA instead of bumping my children off of their laptops.

Any ideas? Will this require a registry tweak? I don't have any registry editing software loaded yet.

Please keep in mind that I don't have all of the expert techie know-how that you do, but I am comfortable with specific instructions.

Thanks so much for your help!

Nathalie

Forgot to say that the email account is POP3.

Also, when I get my messages, I receive the message that messages can't be downloaded...etc. Yet, when I hit the X, I see my newest messages listed.

Thanks again!

Make sure you've selected "Outlook mail requires authentication" on the Options (2/3) screen.

Get into Messaging, and select Account. Tap "Accounts" on the popup menu. Select the account you've already set up and "Next"
"Next" "Next" until you get the Email Setup (4/4) screen. You'll see an options button. Tap Options > Next. This should bring you to the Options (2/3) screen. Check the box next to "Outgoing mail requires authentication", then the Next button and Finish.

Thanks Julie.

I wish I had read your message 45 minutes ago!

I did figure it out though!! I just kept playing with those options and wound up checking the "Require SSL connection" as well as "Outgoing mail requires authentication" options. Now I don't get that annoying message: "Messages can't be downloaded..." After sending myself a test message, everything seems to work great!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Perhaps this will help another newbie later on!
