Thanks to SKtools, I've been watching the notification queue before and after the mystery wake-up-and-drain-my-battery events.
The joint brain-trust at HP and Credant appear to have forgotten that the system file "calupd.exe" needs to run.
Here is what happens when credant is enabled.
It seems about 10 min before a calendar event, calupd needs to run. This wakes up the pda and, it just sits at the user info or credant screen forever or utill the timeout to turn off on battery power (i.e. 3 minutes, etc).
With the timeout set, at least the pda shuts off again after only draining the battery a bit (most of the time). Without it set, it just kills the battery.
Without Credant. calupd operates in the background. The screen never comes on at all.
I'm sick of this nonsense from HP. We bought our pda's with a specific feature that hasn't worked in over 12 months and they have shown no interest in fixing it.
In fact, they have now released a new model (the "b" versions) that have their own set of issues. but, have never addressed the issues with the original.
Are there any lawyers out there? I think this needs a class action suit against these thieves.
The problems with WM5/HP/Credant are well known, well documented and widespread and are rendering our pda's useless or at least insecure and unreliable.
